Harlequins-informationI like Harlequins because their markings are so distinct and beautiful. I haven't worked with magpie Harlequins yet, but I have Japanese Harliquins. Let me explain magpies and Japanese. Japanese are when the rabbit has a base color of golden orange to golden fawn. Magpies have a base color of white. Within these two groups are four color varieties: black, blue, chocolate, and lilac. I like black Japanese the best. ![]() It is very difficult to find an extremly good Harlequin, one that has almost perfect markings. First of all, it has to have good bands or bars on its back. Next, it has to have a split face with the base color on one side and the variation color on the other and the ears have to be opposite to the face. It also has to have a split chest, but opposite to the face. Its front and back paws must be opposite. When being shown, they are judged on mostly markings. They can get up to 10 points on body type. It is almost entirely on markings, because that's what makes a Harlequin a Harelquin. You can get up to 60 points for markings. For the body type, there should be a rise starting from the nape of the neck which rises to a high point over the hindquarters. Then it should gently slope to the tail. |
