I have always respected your company, as a competitor when I worked for Smith Kline Inc. and as a consumer. However, I am dismayed to find your company, which makes money from selling products to we who are immunologically compromised, no matter what form that takes, to sponsor the journalistic tactics of John Stossel and his "JUNK SCIENCE" reports. Here is a man who has only used psychiatrists to refute claims about every illness he has "debunked" - not peer review pro and con at all.His theory, as stated this am was "if there is not a definative test for it. it must be all psychiatric"... and since when were there definitive testing for all psychiatric illnesses?
There are, as you well know, many illnesses for which no definitive testing is available at this time. Have we gone back to the days of"hysteria" and bad humors in the night air?? I could list many well-recognized illnesses that are or have been "judgement calls by the MD's in the past 20 years - AIDS, Multiple Sclorosis, polio, Alzhiemers, the list goes on... we have markers for some... but not definitive tests (yet) does that negate the pain and suffering of a person afflicted?
I deeply regret that many of us who are homebound and disabled after various diseases have distroyed our lives, taken our beloved careers away, and for many of us our families also have discussed this and decided the only way to respond is to boycott sponsor products. There are millions of us internationally that suffer with Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Fibromyalgia, Multiple Scholorosis, Myoligic Encepolopothy (in the USA, called Chronic Fatique Immunological Dysfunction Syndrome, Gulf War Syndrome, Myofacial Pain Syndrome......There are genetic markers being found in all these. There are prions found in our muscles. This is not a TEST, nor is it NORMAL. As a former medical researcher in the field of lipids and genetics; I am encouragedby the REAL science and appalled at the JUNK you endorse.
