Local 12N members and their families
have access to a broad range of benefits thanks to good union
contracts and union membership.
- Pensions: Local 12N members participate in one or both
of two retirement funds.
- Inter-Local Pension Fund
- GCIU Supplemental Retirement and Disability
Fund
- Emergency and Special
Defense Fund: With international
approval, this fund helps participating unions when their members
are forced out on strike or are locked out of their workplaces.
- Scholarships: Each year, sons and daughters of GCIU members
compete for 10 Anthony J. DeAndrade scholarships based on academic
and other achievements. Scholarships of $500.00 per year for
four years of study are awarded to two winners from each of five
geographic regions.
- Graphic Arts Education
Fund: Local 12N active members
can take advantage of a $400.00 benefit that reimburses the member
for further enhancing their skills through education at colleges,
workshops by printing associations, or upgrading computer skills
at computer learning facilities. This is an annual benefit.
- GraphicCommunicator: The GCIU's official publication is sent to
every member active or retiree who wishes to receive it.
- Benevolent Trust Fund: The Benevolent Trust Fund is an option for
GCIU members to help defray funeral expenses.
- Union Privilege: GCIU members and their families enjoy a broad
package of consumer discounts from Union Privilege. Benefits
available to GCIU embers include the Union Plus Credit Card,
Legal Service, Union Member Mortgage & Real Estate, Union
Driver & Traveler, Loan Program, Union Member Life Insurance,
Union Member Dental Program, and Union Family Savers, which offers
discounted car rentals, flower delivery, theme park packages,
and more.
- Safety and Health: GCIU members and local unions benefit from
the information on workplace hazards provided by the International's
Safety and Health department.
