Irma Bellanger

Irma J. Bellanger, 60, of Villa Park, died Monday, July 7, at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 11, at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment was private.

Mrs. Bellanger is survived by her husband, Albert J. Sr.; sons, Albert J. Jr. (Giovanna) and Robert J. (Teresa); five grandchildren; brother, John P. Marchiorello; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary.

Arrangements were made by Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park.

 

Jeanne Bludorn

A memorial service for Jeanne D. (Mickey) Bludorn, 83, will be held Saturday, July 19, at First Church of Lombard, Maple Street Chapel.

Mrs. Bludorn is survived by her children, Bonnie (Lee) Foreman, Leslie, Greg (Kim), Robin (Rich) Litz and Scott (Dana); seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

Shirley Carr

Shirley M. Carr, nee Finucane, of Villa Park, died Sunday, July 13, in Villa Park.

Funeral services will be held today, July 16, from Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park, to Mass at St. Alexander Church in Villa Park. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Mrs. Carr is survived by her daughter, Janet (Ray) Vonasch; two nieces; and many great-nephews and -nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward P.; and siblings, Sr. Janet Rose Finucane, William (Martha) Finucane and Rosebud Finucane.

Mrs. Carr was a 40-year resident of Villa Park. She retired from Magie Bros. Oil Co. in Franklin Park.

 

La Verne Elliott

La Verne H. Elliott, nee Roderweiss, 62, of La Grange, formerly of Oak Park and Berwyn, died Monday, July 7, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 11, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard.

Mrs. Elliott is survived by her children, Brian Koll and and Denise (Jim) Mast of Villa Park; three grandchildren; siblings, Ronald (Irene) Roderweiss and Trudy (Gary) Steinhauser of Lombard; and four nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Elliott grew up in Chicago, where she had attended St. Martini Lutheran School and Church. She was a 1963 graduate of Harper High School and received her associate's degree from Triton College. She had been a beauty operator in Berwyn and Oak Park, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Forest Park.

William Johnson

William E. Johnson, 87, of Slater, Mo., died Sunday, July 6, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.

A memorial service was held Friday, July 11, at Salem Evangelical Church in Saline County, with the Rev. Tony Gallagher officiating. Inurnment was at Salem Evangelical Church Cemetery in Saline County.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, James E.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings, Arthur Johnson and Margaret Ann Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur B. and Margretie; wife, Mary Ruth; son, Christopher Arthur; and three sisters.

Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He had worked for 23 years for the Lombard Fire Department and later worked as chief deputy assessor for York Township. He was a member of the Salem Evangelical Church, and of American Legion Post #1000 and the Voiture 333, 40 and 8. He was also a member of the Slater Police Board.

Elsie Kalchbrenner

Elsie P. Kalchbrenner, nee Schlaffer, 89, of Lombard, died Wednesday, July 9, in Lombard.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lombard, with the Rev. Dan Wegrzyn officiating. Interment was at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery in Oakbrook Terrace.

Mrs. Kalchbrenner is survived by her children, John A. Jr. (Janie), Gayle (John) Hunt and Carol Koziol; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Camilla Chalek; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Schlaffer, Margaret Frawley, Louise (Charles) Neubauer and Catherine Kalchbrenner. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Sr.; son-in-law, John Koziol; brother, Ed Schlaffer; brothers-in-law Walter Kalchbrenner and Joseph Kalchbrenner; and sisters-in-law, Anna Weidler and Elsie Miklos.

Mrs. Kalchbrenner was a homemaker and resided in Lombard for 56 years. She was a member of the Ladies Aid at St. John's and was a past president, and was also a member of the church's senior Bible study group. She was also a member of LWML and the Lutheran Layman's League.

Memorials to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 215 S. Lincoln St., Lombard, IL 60148, would be appreciated.

Ronald LaPorta Sr.

Ronald J. LaPorta Sr., 71, of Villa Park, died Tuesday, July 8, at RML Specialty Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 12, at St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Mr. LaPorta is survived by the mother of his children, Faye LaPorta; children, Elizabeth, Ronald Jr. and Thomas (Lisa Williamson); siblings, Nicholas Jr. and Barbara (Tony) Gusich; and nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Sr. and Mary; and brother, Salvatore (Francine).

Mr. LaPorta was a devoted Maryville Academy volunteer, a die-hard White Sox fan and a member of ONIAC.

Sophie Letvinuck

Sophie J. Letvinuck, nee Rogus, 87, of Lombard, died Monday, July 14, at Beacon Hill in Lombard.

Visitation will be today, July 16, at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17, with prayers from the funeral home to Mass at St. James the Apostle Church in Glen Ellyn. Interment is at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Mrs. Letvinuck is survived by her children, Geraldine (Charles) Elter and Larry (Debra); two grandchildren; brother-in-law, Alex Shmigelsky; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B.; and five brothers and sister.

Mrs. Letvinuck grew up in Thorp, Wis., and was a resident of Lombard from 1952-2008, save for an 18-year residence in Glen Ellyn. She was a homemaker, volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Glen Ellyn, and was a member of St. James the Apostle Church and a former member of Sacred Heart Church in Lombard.

William Manners

William T. "Bill" Manners, 68, of Villa Park, died Thursday, July 10, in Villa Park.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, at St. John the Apostle Church in Villa Park. Interment was at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.

Mr. Manners is survived by his wife, Gerre; children, David (Donna), Judee (Jim) Schmidt and Keith (Aimee); two grandchildren; brother- and sister-in-law, Ron (Patricia) Peleschek and Karen (Michael) Jurcazak; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Eddie John.

Dorothy Plonka

Dorothy R. Plonka, 83, of Lombard, died Thursday, July 10, in Lombard.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, with prayers from Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, to Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lombard. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Mrs. Plonka is survived by her children, Sharon R., Jeannette of Lombard, Edward J. (Annette) of Villa Park and Kenneth E. (Vicki); four grandchildren; and those to whom she was known as "Aunt Dorts." She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F.; and grandson, Matthew.

Mrs. Plonka was a 57-year resident of Lombard and was an Avon lady for 34 years. She loved to crochet, was known for being an incredible cook and baker, enjoyed socializing and having company over, was the master of ceremonies and "queen" of Las Vegas, enjoyed gardening and loved sports, especially the Bears and Cubs.

Elmer Ritchie

Elmer James Ritchie, 90, of Beacon Hill, Lombard, formerly of Glen Ellyn Woods, died Tuesday, July 8, at the Beacon Hill Health Center in Lombard.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, at the Leonard Memorial Home, 565 Duane St. Glen Ellyn. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove.

Mr. Ritchie is survived by his children, Bill (Donna), Ray of Lombard, Ron (Rhonda) and Jim (Dawn); four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice E.; and brother, William (Ethel) Ritchie.

Mr. Ritchie was born in Kearny, N.J., and was a resident of Beacon Hill for eight years and of Glen Ellyn Woods for 46 years. He was captain of a ship in the Merchant Marine during World War II and graduated from Columbia University in New York. He had worked as a master carpenter and later taught at Washburn Trade School.

 

William Zuzulas

William G. "Bill" Zuzulas, 78, of Villa Park, died Monday, July 7, in Villa Park.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 14, at Steuerle Funeral Home, 350 S. Ardmore Ave., Villa Park. Interment was private.

Mr. Zuzulas is survived by his sister, Ann Zuzulas; nephew, Terry (Suzanne) Zafiriou; and great-nieces/nephews, Josh, July, Karissa and Nicholas.

Mr. Zuzulas was a retired sergeant with the Villa Park Police Department and a member of Parkview Community Church in Glen Ellyn.
