“WHO IS WATCHING THE STORE”

Rom 8:28-39 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

When we look at our NEWSPAPERS and watch the NEWS we do WONDER if there is ANYBODY WATCHING THE STORE. Who is in CHARGE of this WORLD that has GONE MAD. The News Headlines of recent days: “Plastic surgeon accused of altering major drug dealer’s appearance”, {“ILL: DATELINE ....Last Night” .. Woman returning from church has her car taken away and put into jail by the police, and in the same city a Drug Dealer who has cocaine and $175,000.00 in his car is let off by the court system. } {Israel and Palestine}.

Who Is Watching The Store? ... Who Is In Charge?


I. A PURPOSE OF GODS PROMISE.
Rom 8:28 And we know that ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD to them that LOVE GOD, to THEM WHO ARE THE CALLED according to HIS PURPOSE.

(a). The Scope Of His Promise.
Vr#28 ...”ALL THINGS work TOGETHER for GOOD”
(God “causes all things” to work together}

ILL: The Troubled Child?, That Devouring Disease?, That Divorce?, That Forced Termination? ... Is That Good?

LL: Jacob ... Reaping the HARVEST of His YOUNGER YEARS:
Gen. 42:36 Old Jacob Wept: “Me have ye bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and Simeon is not, and ye will take Benjamin away: ALL THESE THINGS ARE AGAINST ME”...{“These Things”...were working out for his good}

1. Although we may NOT SEE it NOW, EVERYTHING will one day be SEEN to FIT into GOD’S PERFECT PLAN.

(b). The Secret Of His Promise.
Rom 8:28-30 ...”to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, {before we were born} he also did predestinate {a predetermination}= to be CONFORMED TO THE IMAGE OF HIS SON, {not heaven or hell} that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them HE ALSO CALLED: and whom HE CALLED, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”

1. God has a PLAN for YOUR LIFE. “Middle-class Christian Commitment.
2. God is in the BUSINESS of making us “LIKE CHRIST”
3. God is in the BUSINESS of “CALLING”

II. THE PERSON OF THE PROMISE.
Rom 8:31-32 What shall we then say to THESE THINGS? If GOD BE FOR US, WHO can be AGAINST US? He that SPARED NOT HIS OWN SON, but DELIVERED HIM UP for US ALL, how SHALL HE not WITH HIM ALSO FREELY GIVE US ALL THINGS?

(a). The Sovereign Is Watching The Store.
Vr#31 ...”If GOD be FOR US WHO can be AGAINST US?”

(b). The Son Is Wounded For The Sinner.
Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but DELIVERED HIM UP FOR US ALL, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Rom 8:33-34 Who shall LAY ANY THING TO THE CHARGE OF GOD'S ELECT? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? IT IS CHRIST THAT DIED, yea rather, that is RISEN AGAIN, who is even at the RIGHT HAND of GOD, who also MAKETH INTERCESSION FOR US. {Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,}

III. THE POWER OF THE PROMISE.
Rom 8:35-39 Who shall SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST? shall TRIBULATION, or DISTRESS, or PERSECUTION, or FAMINE, or NAKEDNESS, or PERIL, or SWORD?

(a). Our Shelter
Verse#36 As it is written, For THY SAKE WE ARE KILLED ALL THE DAY LONG; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Ps 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
O Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
a weary land, a weary land:
O Jesus is a Rock in a weary land,
A Shelter in the time of storm

(b). Our Stand
Verse#37 Nay, in ALL THESE THINGS WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS through him that loved us.

1 Cor 2:5 That your FAITH SHOULD NOT STAND in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

(c). Our Security
Verse#38-39 For I AM PERSUADED, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US from the LOVE OF GOD, WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.
