A Little Bit On
Donnie
Wahlberg!
Donnie grew up: : Dorchester, Massachusetts. He
was born at St. Margaret's Hospital. He was eighth child born to Alma and
Donald Sr. after Debbie, Tracey, Michelle, Arthur, Paul, James (Jimbo), and
Robert (Bobbo). A few years after Donnie came younger brother Mark. Alma
worked very hard to make sure her large family got dinner every night and
things they needed. No matter what Almsa had the family get together once
a week for a bingo game, where for reasons unknown, Donnie would always choose
card number 3. Donnie family was
just like the
rest they attened church every Sunday together. The church they attened was
at St. Gregory's in Boston. The one thing the Wahlberg's were very big on
where holidays. The family really enjoyed decorating the house for everyone
to see. They also had there traditional parties down stairs in the basement.
Christmas, Donnie's favorite time of year, was also special, as a time when
his parents would treat the children, after working hard to provide for them
all year. His father worked as a truck driver, and then a bus driver, delivering
school and summer camp lunches. Donnie actually helped him with this job
during summer break from school one year. Alma worked as a nurses assistant
at St. Margaret's Hospital. At the age 12 his parents divorced. He and Mark
stayed with his mother, while 2 of his older brothers went to live with his
father. All of his other siblings were already out on their own. Alma, Donnie
and Mark moved to a three family home on Peverell Street shortly afterwards.
His mother remarried years later, to Mark Conroy. Donnie says he came to
see the divorce as something that actually strengthened his relationship
with his father. Donnie was lucky that he also got along with his step father.
School: Donnie went to a kindergarten near his
house, and then for grade school was bused to the William Monroe Trotter
School in Roxbury, as part of Boston's bussing program to introduce white
kids into minority schools and vice versa. Donnie met Danny Wood while at
the Trotter School, but didn't begin to hang around with him until middle
school. Donnie attended middle school at the Phyllis Wheatley Middle school.
Donnie participated in drama class, something he enjoyed, and cites middle
school, and the first two years of high school as
the best times in
his young life. He was influenced in music by his older brothers Paul and
Artie as well, who were both into heavy metal. Donnie was turned on to rap
by his schoolmates and peers. Donnie even had a small rap group called Risk,
who would get together and make up songs. He was also a big fan of Michael
Jackson, and would imitate his moves and perform them for friends at school.
He became popular for his Michael Jackson imitations. Donnie while in grade
7 met a group called The Kool Aid bunch. Danny Wood was also in the group,
as was Jordan and Jonathan Knight's older brother Chris. The members of the
group often came and went, but Danny and Donnie were always at the center
of the group.
Donnie was first told about auditions for New Kids by friend Gina Marcucci
who suggested he talk to Mary Alford about auditioning, because of his rap
and dance talents. He auditioned with friends Peter and Eddie, at Maurice
Starr's home in Roxbury. He was the first member of the group and played
a key role in finding Danny, Jordan, and Jonathan for what would turn out
to be the ride of a lifetime.
What Is He Doing
Now?
Donnie is still Single, but has a 3 year old son named Xavier Alexander.
Donnies is currently making movies. One of his best movies out so far is
Ransom. =-0 Directed by Ron Howard. Starring Mel Gibson, Rene Russo, Brawley
Nolte, Gary Sinise, Delroy Lindo, Lili Taylor, Liev Schreiber, Donnie Wahlberg,
and Evan Handler. Screenplay by Richard Price and Alexander
Ignon, from a
story by Cyril Hume and Richard Maibaum. Ransom is a movie that is about
every parent's worst nightmare, especially in these unstable times: a child
is kidnapped, and the parents are helpless to influence the outcome of the
crisis, swept up with police and FBI agents and the media and fearful that
anything they do will trigger the unstable kidnapper (kidnappers?) to harm
the youngster. Donnie Played one of the kidnappers. Even though he was told
to be mean you could tell he loved the kid and new he was doing wrong. It
is ashamed they had to kill him in the movie. He had no choice but to go
by the order of his older brother. During the movie Donnie grow a strong
bond to the kid. Anyways. Donnie is currently making about 3 more movies.
Lets see what he can do ;-). He still CO-producing bands and getting them
together. All i can say is good luck Hun. =-0
