Atlantic and Cape May Counties

Cape May Seashore Lines operates on the former Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines (PRSL) Cape May Branch, in the southern part of Cape May County, New Jersey.  Trains run between the city of Cape May and the Cape May County 4-H Fairgrounds, in Middle Township.  This is the first passenger rail service in Cape May County since New Jersey Transit ended train service to Cape May in 1981.  CMSL operations began in 1996, with trains between Cold Spring Village and the fairgrounds.  In 1998, work was completed on the old swing bridge linking Cape May to the mainland, which allowed trains to serve Cape May directly.
Cape May Seashore Lines uses Rail Diesel Cars (RDCs) built by Philadelphia's Budd Company in the 1950s.  They are self-propelled, and can operate individually or in trains.  In 2001, renovations were completed on the Cape May station.  The rebuilt transportation center now serves CMSL, NJ Transit buses, and is home to the Cape May Welcome Center.
