Lucy's First Sitcom: Who's Who in the Cast Sandra Gould, who plays Liz Cooper's
bridge partner, "Marge" in the second My Favorite Husband episode
being recreated at the 50th Anniversary Reunion, created that role in the
original 1950 broadcast. I Love Lucy fans remember Ms. Gould
as the wife of the oil tycoon, "Sam Johnson," in "Oil Wells"
(Episode #84) (pictured), and as the woman on the train platform in "Lucy
and the Loving Cup" (Episode #164). Bewitched fans recognize
her as Samantha's nosy next-door neighbor, "Gladys Kravitz."
Ms. Gould made her radio debut at age nine and her Broadway debut at age
eleven (in Fly Away Home, with Montgomery Clift), going on to do
other Broadway productions including New Faces and Having a Wonderful
Time, and Detective Story. On radio, she appeared on such programs
as My Friend Irma, Let's Pretend, The Jack Benny Program (for 15
years), and Duffy's Tavern (as "Miss Duffy"). On TV, in
addition to Bewitched, Ms. Gould was a regular on Bewitched, The Jack
Benny Show, The Red Skelton Show, The Bob Hope Show, The Joan Davis Show,
and December Bride, and has made guest appearances on many other
programs including Friends, MacGyver, Columbo, Gilligan's Island, I Dream
of Jeannie, The Danny Thomas Show, The Brady Bunch, The Twilight Zone, and
Studio One. She has appeared in more than 20 feature films including
Deep Cover, Dear God, Heterosexuals, The Barefoot Executive, Dear Heart,
Honeymoon Hotel, Imitation of Life, and Teacher's Pet. Ms. Gould
has written two books, Always Say Maybe and Sexpots and Pans, and has written
features for several magazines, including Sports Illustrated, Los Angeles
Magazine, Reader's Digest, and Cosmopolitan. An accomplished
artist, Ms. Gould has sold several hundred paintings.
