Friendship/Language Partner Program: Friendship Partners are Christian volunteers who desire to be a friend to an international student. Regularly they meet for meals and call up each other to talk and build up friendship. Friendship Partners can help their international friends adjust to the new environment by explaining to them certain American culture and English usage, how things are done here in the US and the way Americans think. These partners often treat students as part of their own families by including them in the fun family activities and providing much needed support and encouragement. Many partners become lifelong friends with their international friends.
Student Friendship/Conversation Partner Program: There are English-speaking students in your campus who want to meet international students! Our Student Friendship/Conversation Program offers international students in the Berkeley area a weekly opportunity to meet with an English-speaking student for an hour or so to: 1. Practice and improve English conversation skills, right on your campus! 2. Through conversation and shared experiences, learn about life and American culture. 3. Develop a friendship with someone in the United States.
International Woman's Circle: This group promotes encouragement and support for the female international students or spouses of the students/scholars. We meet once a month on a Tuesday around 1:00 PM. When the weather is good, we meet outside in the parks so that the children can play in the playground while the moms have their study/discussion time. Topics cover practical issues regarding woman's growth, the foundation of loving relationships, how to really love your child, family life, and so on. We try to draw wisdom and strength from the Bible to help us live an abundant and fulfilling life. Sometimes we also have field trips and picnics.
Individual Bible Study: Bible is a book full of true wisdom. It is claimed to be the inspiration of God to help us live an abundant and meaningful life on earth, and to guide us to life everlasting. It shows us the way to bridge us to the ultimate truth, the creator of the whole universe, i.e. God Himself. It serves as a beacon calling us home, "Turn to the author of life before it's too late!". Believe or not, it is the most amazing book you will ever encounter. So, if you are interested in studying Bible individually with a Christian, we can find one to walk with you in your journal of faith. You can choose to study it in English, in your native language, or bilingually.
