The Gazette is a fan-based newsletter with the purpose of supplying fans of actor/director Tommy Lee Jones with all the latest news and developments concerning TLJ's career, and to provide a platform for fans to publish their own reviews and commentaries on their favorite actor's work.

An earlier attempt to create a publication such as this was made in the USA in 1994 ("The Still Unnamed Electronic Tommy Lee Jones Fan Newsletter, Dispatched Across the Whole Durned World"; Melody Clark, Editor) but the project was abandoned after a few issues. Since we live in Germany, our original intention was to publish a translated, printed version of Melody's newsletter for local TLJ fans who could not be reached by the original publication, partly because of the language barrier and partly because most of them didn't have Internet access, which was still a somewhat exotic affair in 1994's Germany. (And maybe even today...)

Our newsletter was called "Tommy Lee Jones Post" and two issues were actually published, in October and December of 1994. After that it was clear that too few local fans were ready to pay for snailmail delivery of our publication; most had probably never heard of it since the only means of advertising we could afford were some tiny free ads in movie magazines. The "Post" was cancelled because we just didn't manage to find our potential readers.

At the same time, Melody's email newsletter project came to an end and there was a need to fill the void. So, after much encouragement from our friend Maria Vitale, TLJ connoisseur extraordinaire (Thanks, Maria!), we decided to take up the challenge and turn the German paper-based "Post" into the English-language electronic "Gazette", to be once again "dispatched across the whole durned world"!

All issues of the Gazette are available for download from the menue on this page. Also, selected articles from past issues will continue to be converted to HTML format and enhanced by pictures, if available. We will make it easier for you to find specific articles by adding a more detailed directory to this page.

With issue #19, the Gazette concluded its run as an email-based publication. It has been replaced by an online edition, which we hope to keep alive and current. To make this work, we need your ongoing support and contributions.
