Location and Environment
Bahia Luminosa--Bright Bay--is located on the Pacific Coast side of Costa Rica on the Nicoya Peninsula (see Maps). All the large trees of the original primary forest have been preserved on the 175-acre property, and the grounds have been thoughtfully landscaped to complement the natural flora and to accommodate the native fauna. Weather from December to early May is sunny and without appreciable rainfall, with temperatures in the low 70s at night and mid 80s during the day. From late May until mid November, rain in the late afternoon and at night is common, with the wettest months generally September and early October.Accomodations and Facilities
There are 14 rooms with private baths, built within the past seven years. The rooms are arranged in several separate groups of adjoining cabanas, located in distinct settings about the property to ensure privacy and pleasant accommodation. Half of the rooms have air conditioning, the other half have fans, and there are hammocks on the patios in front of the rooms. Five units are within 100 feet of the pool and patio/restaurant area, and the other rooms are set on hillsides above the main buildings, affording 240-degree views of the Gulf of Nicoya, the islands, and the distant mainland. With extra beds in some rooms, the resort can accommodate 40 persons.
In addition to the standard rooms is a very private two-bedroom unit with kitchenette and large living room--the "honeymoon house" is located in its own little canyon remote from other rooms.
The complete, on-site restaurant serves American and traditional Costa Rican cuisine at reasonable prices.

The People
- Watercraft: Currently, a 26-foot motor launch,and a 19-foot launch are available for charter or for group tours.
- Fishing...the waters of the Gulf of Nicoya are home to most varied and abundant flora and fauna in the world--that means the fishing is great!
- Also available for independent use by arrangement are several smaller watercraft: powered dinghy, and sailboard.
- Scuba diving in local waters of the Gulf.
- Horseback riding is available, featuring a 4-hour roundtrip ride to a beautiful waterfall.
- Swimming at resort's gray-sand beach where there is no surf or dangerous currents.
- Fishing in the Gulf's beautiful waters around the islands minutes from the resort.
- Amazing birdlife and other flora and fauna are a constant source of interest.
