HEARTLAND WESTIE RESCUE
Heartland Westie Rescue is a non-profit volunteer group which was formed by Nancy Guilfoil (Missouri), Barbara Winans (Kansas) Ann Holmes (Oklahoma) and Becky Tucker (Oklahoma) to assist any Westie in need. Heartland Westie Rescue volunteers foster homeless Westies in their own homes until they can be placed in approved permanent homes. Heartland Westie Rescue is funded through private donations.

The Story of the Guardian Angel

The Guardian Angel was created in memory of Ch. Alpine's Irish Aristocrat (Astro) who crossed the Rainbow Bridge on May 18, 1998. The time of Astro's death was very near the time of a major rescue by Heartland Westie Rescue in Missouri whereby Westie lovers all over the country were pulling together to save a number of westies from their puppymill backgrounds. From the time he died, I felt there was something more I could do for rescue dogs. It was like Astro was sitting on my shoulder and guiding my hands for me. As he has been referred to as a Guardian Angel in a few westie stories, I thought that every Westie, especially the rescues, needed a Guardian Angel to watch over them. So I came up with the idea of the Astro Guardian Angel.
The Guardian Angel is only available through Westie rescue clubs and cannot be bought anywhere else. I made the original mold, the only one in existence. The clubs can only get them from and, and they are all donated by to the clubs. I don't make a penny from them. This is my way of helping out.
The Astro Guardian Angel is made of ceramic, then glazed and fired to a permanent finish. The wings are opal colored, and the halo is 19k fired gold. They can be worn as a pin or pendant , used as a Christmas tree ornament, or refrigerator magnet and are available with a pink or blue gown.
The Guardian Angels are available for $20.00 plus $2.00 shipping and handling. If you would like to order one, please specify pink or blue and mail your checks to:
