So what would you like me to do?
Choreography
is what I love to do best, and I do it well. I choreograph primarily in the ballet idiom, and more detailed information on my work can be found at the Dance as Ever website. I have an excellent promotional video of excerpts of fourteen of my ballets. Let me know if you’d like to see it.Knitting Workshops
- Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to evangelize for knitting or dance. I have done both classes and lectures on knitting on subjects such as:What I have to offer is a creative and inspirational approach to the form, combined with a thorough understanding of its techniques. Please contact me to set up a lecture or workshop for your group, guild or store.
Writing
- My writing experience is broad, moving from non-fiction articles on topics as diverse as ballet and knitting, to grant proposals, press releases and advertising copy (with some soft core porn thrown in for good measure, but we don't talk about that in front of the clients. Did I also mention I wrote humor pieces as well?) I’d be happy to do any of the above for you, with the possible exception of the soft core porn, still, if the money is right. . .Because of this range and adaptability of writing experience, what I can best offer you or your clients is the ability to help identify more than what you want your copy to say, but how you want it to affect your readers. Together with you, I can help you to formulate copy that conveys the information you want and need to communicate, rather than mere facts or more insidiously, technological bells and whistles.
An example: A medical practice specializing in plastic surgery wishes to create a web site. What they need to convey, besides raw information, is the impression that they actually are concerned with their patients' well-being, that they will listen to a potentially nervous patient and answer their questions, and more subtly, to assuage the client's possible discomfort about being vain enough to consider elective surgery. What they don't want to convey is that they spent a lot of money on the latest technology (even if they did), and that's why their fees are so high.
Knitwear Design
- At present, I don’t do commission production (I’ll consider it, but I’m not inexpensive.) I’m very happy to do design work for you, especially for publication. If you like what you see here, and want one of my designs for your store, magazine or yarn company, don’t hesitate to write me!©1998 Leigh Witchel. All rights reserved.
