Jack's Back (the Acid Version)

This was the third sweater I ever made. When I was in Boise, dancing with American Fiesta Ballet
de
Potato, we toured quite a bit and I taught myself to knit because reading on the tour bus made me
gack. When Mom and I talked about my having begun to knit, she went to the library and
borrowed
Kaffe's "Glorious Knits". So I get these black and white Xeroxes of these sweaters (which are
completely about color, so absolutely mystifying in Xerox) from my Mom which had "You have
to
see these in color" scrawled on the bottom in pencil. I thought she was nuts. I came home in the
spring, and she had brought the book home to show me. I stayed up until 4:00 a.m. swatching
feverishly, I was so excited by the colors. The sweater is made out of anything she gave me, plus
whatever I had bought, ranging from cheap acrylics to rather good quality chenille. Some of the
color
choices seem to be inspired by the roof of Howard Johnson's, but I love its exuberance. I wear it
when
I'm in a loud mood.
