The source for these design motifs is also Co Spinhoven's Charted Celtic
Designs (Dover Books). Made
for my brother's 30th birthday, I chose the motif of the Celtic knot rising into the face of two men
to
symbolize that although we have long been separated by an ocean or a continent, we are still
joined. I
had a gauge problem from the different yarns, creating a knitted-in spare tire my brother did not
possess. Mom solved the problem inventively by turning the vest inside out and carefully
machine-basting a false seam at the sides, eliminating the excess fabric. |
