Oak Grove Central Elementary School's Chess Extravaganza

Alright!!!

September 16th, Hernando, Mississppi. Oak Grove Central Elementary School held it's first annual fund raising chess tournament, The Oak Grove Central Elementary School's Chess Extravanganza. The tournament is a huge success. There are 70 kids signed up. 11 players signed up in K-3 section, 43 in grades 4-5 and 16 players in grades 6-8.

OGCE spotlight teacher and tournament organizer, Angelia Faulkner would like to extend her big appreciation to all the children that participated.

The winners of the 1st Oak Grove Central Elementary School's Chess Extravaganza are:

    Junior High (6-8):
  • 1st Place - Will Brown
  • 2nd Place - Nishal Bhikha
  • 3rd Place - Adam Jordan
    Elementary (4-5):
  • 1st Place - Travus McMahon
  • 2nd Place - Joseph Ramsey
  • 3rd Place - Evangeline Newcomb
    Primary (K-3):
  • 1st Place - Justin Newcomb
  • 2nd Place - Hunter Faulkner
  • 3rd Place - Rob Brown

In the Elementary division, Travus McMahon and Joseph Ramsey is tied for 1st place with perfect 4-0 score. Travus won in the play-off to capture the 1st place trophy.
