MEMBERSHIP   INFORMATION

 

The MADISON COUNTY GENEALOGICAL & HISTORICAL SOCIETY is an active non-profit organization which was formed in 1981, with the purposes of promoting interest in, collecting and preserving the history of Madison County, Arkansas, and its people. We also serve our community through our free library and research facility and by the publication of our quarterly, "The Madison County Musings".

 

Our office and FREE library is located in the old Community Center on Highway 412 West.  Our volunteer staff will be glad to assist you in research of our materials on Madison County history, genealogical information, family history books and various other records.  We gladly accept donations of copies of your family history to add to our library. The library is open Monday thru Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 3 :00 p.m. during the months of March thru October. During November, December, January and February the library is open only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, also  from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Appointments can be made for Saturdays by calling a week in advance and is conditional on the availability of an office volunteer.

 

The  “MADISON COUNTY MUSINGS" is our quarterly magazine which is published by the Society four times a year, with each issue containing over 50 pages of Madison County history and genealogical data, including photos and index. Our membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st. Each member has free query privileges and we welcome submission of articles pertaining to Madison County history for consideration for publication in The Musings. We currently have over 750 members and The Musings  is mailed to over 35 states each year.  Each member receives four issues per year of The Musings, which are published in April, June, September and December. Current membership dues are $15.00 per year.   Effective now:  If we are not notified of your CHANGE OF ADDRESS, you will be charged $5.00 for each replacement issue of The Musings.

 

Due to rising costs of printing and postage, effective for 2007 membership year, dues will be $15.00.
