Lorie Aug. 11, 1974 - Aug. 8, 1993 Lynn Jan.15, 1974 -Aug.8,1993
On August 8, 1993 our lives were changed forever. Two young lives were taken as a result of excess drinking. A Hit-and-run driver who had been drinking all day took the lives of Lorilea Justine Davis (18) and Lynn Marie Gallagher-Davis (19).
The driver ran them down as they walked home from a convenience store and drove away. Police followed parts of his auto to find him. He had gone home where he continued to drink.
He served only 2 2/3 years for these two lives. Our lives will never be the same. Lorie and Lynn were best friends. Lynn was staying over to help Lorie plan her October 16th wedding. A Wedding that never got to be. The girls bodies were found in a ditch by Lorie's brother Mike (24) and Lorie's fiance Billy (22). Such a terrible thing for both of them to have to live with.
We all miss Lorie very much - We buried her on her 19th birthday. She was happy, loving honest spirit and I am sure she still is that, but we can never hold her again or tell her how much we love her. Lorie and Lynn lost their futures that day, due to someone's attitude about drinking and driving. I am Lorie's mother and I joined MADD to help others who may find themselves in the same position. Also to help educate others on the dangers of drinking and driving.
