Michael Ronald Eddins was walking home one night when a drunk driver ran over him. He suffered scrapes and bruises, but was very fortunate...he lived to tell his story. Are you MADD yet?

Chapter News:
The Florence Police Department is in the process of doing some research for a D.U.I. Task Force. This Task Force will include agencies in both Lauderdale and Colbert Counties. They will be responsible for working checkpoints and doing emphasis patrols (saturating officers in areas where there are either a great number of D.U.I. arrests or D.U.I. crashes). The officers will be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and will handle all D.U.I. arrests and crash investigations. There will also a public awareness campaign as well as programs in the schools. This is a vital part of our battle against drunk drivers. Just like it takes a villiage to raise a child, it takes all of us to fight drunk driving. Anyone interested in knowing how they can help, please emial us.
Rodney Clemmons - March 20, 1971 - March 25, 1995. Rodney was an Artist and a Team Roper. He and his younger brother Todd were the best of friends. They would spend countless hours with each other at a local arena roping cattle. All of that ended when a drunk driver slammed into the boys one night killing Rodney and severely injuring Todd. National News:
The Department of Transportation recently released the 1997 traffic fatality statistics. The new statistics show that alcohol-related crashes are at an all time low. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that 16,189 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes last year, representing 38.6 percent of all traffic deaths. 17,126 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes in 1996, representing 40.9 percent of all traffic deaths that year. While this is huge progress, we must not fool ourselves into thinking we have won the war against drunk driving. Drunk drivers are still claiming 16,000 lives on our nation's highways. That is 16,000 lives too many!
Tanya Moody - Dec. 1973 - Sept. 1992. Tanya has a handicapped sister named Jennifer. She spends hours in her room crying. She can't understand why Tanya never comes to visit her anymore. Tanya's visits with Jennifer ended when a drunk driver took Tanya's life. Are you MADD yet?
