I'm Busy

Sometimes, I don't see people;
They'll tell me they were waving,
Trying to get my attention,
Thinking I was misbehaving:
'You were looking right at me!'
'How can you be so blind?'
I feel foolish, when I tell them,
I was somewhere else, in my mind.
Sometimes, I don't hear people
Shouting my name out, loud;
'You just simply ignored me.'
'Your head was in a cloud.'
I hear different drummers,
And they're not always from here;
My body may be Earthbound,
But, my mind's on another sphere.
It could be another planet,
With or without a name;
It might be another universe,
It's certainly not the same;
I don't feel billions of souls
Pressing in on me, when I'm there;
If I didn't say another word,
There'd be no one that cared.
Here, they think there's something wrong,
Whenever I get quiet;
If I'm not hungry, when they are,
They think I'm on a diet.
