The Lakefront Without You, My Love

Went to the beach to cleanse my spirit
And your vision was everywhere;
The sunlight nearly blinding me
As it shimmered on your hair;
Lovely blue eyes sparkling,
You shivered, from the cold;
I sensed you did that for my benefit
And, again, I felt love's hold;

Waves pounding endlessly
On the rocks,
And there's a whisper in the wind;
Just then, a cold spray,
Stirring my thoughts,
And I've lost your vision again.

Oh, but I'm glad for those moments, my love,
When, again, you're by my side;
But there are times when that damned spray
Can bring the tears back to my eyes.
