The Mad Tatter's Tatting Homepage
Anitra Stone has been tatting for over 20 years. She has won numerous awards at the NC State Fair for her work, taught tatting through Wake Technical Community College for almost 3 years and now teaches individuals and small groups. She has been published in national publications such as "The Workbasket" magazine in August 1989. To help keep tatting alive, Anitra keeps a large quantity of antique and hard to find patterns. She trades copies of the patterns with others to help revitalize the art. Anitra was invited into the "Village of Yesteryear;" a community of artists that promote heritage crafts; in May 1999. Since that time she has met literally hundreds of tatters, and taught dozens more. She has been greatly encouraged by the rapid expansion of the art on the internet. In 1 year, the list of tatting websites has changed from just over 1000, to well over 7000.<S.S.>

Tatting Publishers List:
Dover Publications, Inc.
31 East 2nd Street
Mineola, NY 11501
The catalogue is free upon request. If you want craft books, honey, they've got 'em! You name the craft, they have books on cross stitch, crochet, knitting, tatting, etc., etc., etc.! The shipping is always $4.00 regardless of how many books you order. They have fast delivery and their books are well made. You will feel like you've died and gone to craft book heaven.
House of White Birches
306 East Parr Road
Berne, IN 46711
Catalogue is free upon request. Toll free # 1-800-347-9887. They have a fair selection including 2 tatting books, reasonably priced. Quick shipping, friendly people in customer service. In years past, they did have more books, so, I'm not sure if they're out of print, or if they didn't send me their complete catalogue.
Lacis Publications
3163 Adeline Street
Berkley, CA 94703
Catalogue cost $4.00. Many tatting books, and books on other crafts, as well. There are no descriptions of the kind of patterns contained in each book, which I find frustrating. Still, they DO have some wonderful books, including some published by Dover, so there is some duplication amongst vendors. Most of my Lacis books I have bought from a local shop, so I was able to browse before I purchased. These folks are truly dedicated to promoting and preserving all kinds of lace crafts.
Kangaroo's Pouch
613 South Lamar Blvd.
Oxford, Miss. 38655
Phone # 601-234-3638. I haven't had direct dealings with them, but they have put out some books on tatting, which I have picked up in my various searchings.
Dillie Delights
Current address is unknown but I will post it as soon as I have it.
Send a SASE for a list of books. They have put out several books with a variety of patterns and the books have a very personal feel to them. By the time you finish reading through them, you feel as if you know the authors' families.
Demis Products, Inc.
P.O. Box 348
Lithonia, GA 30058
They, too, have put out a tatting book or two that I have picked up here and there. I have had no direct dealings.
Tatsy
P.O. Box 1401
Des Plaines, IL 60017-1401
They carry large shuttles (no hook), accessories, kits (patterns, shuttle & thread pre-packaged) and some books. No direct dealings, but I DO have some of their products - book is good; large shuttle is good for projects calling for lots of thread.
