8 June 2000:
Chamoru Village in Hagatna Losing More Local Chamoru Merchants - The
Government of Guam Department of Commerce has increased the rental
fee for merchants in the "Chamoru Village Plaza" in
downtown Hagatna. Since the latter part of 1997, the Government
of Guam has planned an increase on rental fees to
all merchants who have a contract with the
Department of Commerce for their business license in the Chamoru
Village to gain an anticipated percentage
of revenue because of
the donwslope of the current economy which
currently relies on Asian tourism to support a great
percentage of revenues for the island.
Shortage of Nurses in Guam Memorial Hospital Affecting Patient Scheduling
and Patient Services on Island - According to sources, some
patients have to be rescheduled for previously
rescheduled appointments because of lack of staffing in the
medical facility. How much longer are the Chamorus in Guam
going to put up with the standard of services provided by the current
administration's appointed officials? As of yet, there is no comment
from the Governor's office in regards to this story.

9 Jun 2000:
Governor coninues to spend thousands and thousands
of tax payer dollars on unecessary trips off island. According
to sources, the Governor remains on island for no
more than three to four days per week. Simple
mathematics can result with the total amount of tax
payer dollars that is actually being spent by
the governor's weekly off island trips. Come on Governor,
you fly more than the President of the United States does! Save
the tax payer dollars for the people on island.
Current Administration Can't Handle Lack of
Qualified Doctors and Nurses in the Guam Memorial
Hospital. Plan to Shut Down Operating Room
Cancelled. If the administration can't afford to
keep qualified doctors and nurses on island because of lack
of government money, then stop the weekly flying off
island Mr. Governor.
Instead of flying off island, why don't you
use email, the telephone, or fax to conduct your business.
I see that with all the traveling you conduct to try
and find other off island resources to get
Guam back into a real economy, you failed to realize
that you've practically bankrupt the tax payer's
account on earning "FREQUENT FLYER MILEs" for youself.
Liberation Day Celebration In Question?
According to sources, leaders and supporters of
Indigenous Rights groups have challenged the notion of
America liberating the Chamorus from the
Japanese after World War II. They do have a
good point, I must say. Since their supposed
Liberation, we have had to listen to
a different imperial leader instead of the Japanese, or
Spanish, "The Federal Government."
