Neve Campbell was born a Libra on October
3, 1973 in Guelph, Ontario. She is the daughter of Marnie Neve of Vancouver,
B.C., a psychologist and Yoga studio owner, and Gerry Campbell, a high school
drama and media teacher. Her parents divorced when she was a baby and now
rarely speak. Neve swore she'd never marry, until of course, she met Jeff.
Neve has an older brother by 18 months, Christian Campbell of TV's previous
"Malibu Shores". Christian describes Neve as "playful and sincere, grounded
and goofy". She also has two younger half-brothers, Alex and Damian.
Neve lives in a three-bedroom house in the Laurel Canyon part of Los Angeles
with her husband, Jeff, and their shih tsu, Buster. When Neve was 17 she
was performing in her first theater job, "Phantom of the Opera" in which
she performed in over 800 shows, when she met Jeff Colt. At night he was
a bartender at the theater where she worked. During the day he was a daycare
teacher. They dated for five years. When Neve moved to L.A. in 1994 to join
the cast of "Party of Five", Jeff couldn't stay without a green card. So,
spur-of-the-moment, Neve and Jeff were married on April 3, 1995 near Wimbledon,
England where Neve was working on location shooting the movie "Canterville
Ghost" for which she won a Family Film Award for Outstanding Actress in a
Television Film. Neve and Jeff honeymooned in Paris, Zurich, and Venice.
When Neve was 6, her father took her to see "The Nutcracker". At that moment
dancing became Neve's dream. At age 9, she went to The National Ballet School
of Canada where she studied dance and academics. The competitive atmosphere
became too overwhelming and at age 15, she quit. Neve is trained in ballet,
jazz, flamenco, hiphop, and modern contemporary.
At age 15, Neve landed her first theater job at Pantages doing "Phantom of
the Opera" for two years. Neve likes theater because she gets an immediate
reaction from the audience.
Neve's first television experience was a commercial for the Eaton Center,
a mall in Canada. Her first regular television role was in a Canadian drama,
"Catwalk", in which she played Daisy---a singer/dance teacher.
Neve says that "one of the best things about being an actress is being able
to touch people's souls and allow them to relate to me and my emotions in
some sense."
Neve currently plays scholarly but rebellious Julia Salinger in Fox's Wednesday
night drama, "Party of Five". She also currently stars in Wes Craven's new
horror flick, "Scream".
What's new? Neve has signed a deal with ABC to create, executive produce,
cast, and star in a movie-of-the-week. "I want to have more control and I
want to have more creative impact. Then you've got the whole thing."
