EDUCATIONAL COUNSELING AND PLANNING

OUR CREDO:   WE BELIEVE THAT FOR EVERY STUDENT, THE IDEAL ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT EXISTS. OUR AIM IS TO GUIDE YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH THE MAZE OF INFORMATION AND CHOICES AVAILABLE. WE SHOW THEM HOW TO DISTINGUISH THE IMPORTANT FROM THE TRIVIAL AND HOW TO MAKE ACADEMIC DECISIONS BASED ON SOLID REASONING RATHER THAN EMOTION OR MYTH.

MARILYN COLSON & ASSOCIATES ASSISTS STUDENTS AND FAMILIES IN THE FOLLOWING THREE AREAS:

COLLEGE GUIDANCE
Working at a comfortable pace, students learn to find ways of presenting themselves as unique personalities, both in their written applications and in their interviews. We believe that, while the process of college selection is never easy, it should be a positive, enjoyable, educational experience.

Students are helped to:

  • Utilize self-evaluation techniques
  • Select colleges appropriate to their needs, interests and abilities
  • Refine oral and written communication skills
  • Evaluate colleges realistically

Although this program is meant to be completed over a two-year period (Junior and Senior years), it is flexible, broad in scope and sensitive to individual needs.
