Background |
|
From October 20th to 30th of 1999, Marilyn Mason, then President of Mason Integrated Technologies (MIT2), visited the Seychelles to participate in its 14th Annual Festival Kreol and associated Seychelles '99 International Creole Language Symposium. She gave invited lectures (including computer demos) on the subjects "Orthography standardisation tools: Preparing Creole languages for the new millennium" and "Kreol + computers + the internet = A beautiful future for Kreol". Below, are documents and photos related to both events held in the Seychelles - a most forward-looking "Garden of Eden". |

About Mason Integrated Technologies (MIT2) |
|
Mason Integrated Technologies ( MIT2), a privately-held corporation, functioned between the years 1996-2002 to research the potential for commercial development and marketing of computer tools (CreoleConvert and CreoleScan) developed in 1991 by Marilyn Mason. Over those six years, many doors were opened to Marilyn as Founder, President and Chief Operating Officer of MIT2, to advocate on behalf of the technological support of Creole languages at the highest levels of governmental and non-governmental agencies, industry, language technology conferences and academia. Creole advocacy, team building, and networking are the lasting legacies of MIT2.
MIT2 has now closed its doors and, building upon those earlier experiences, Marilyn has formed a Network called The Creole Clearinghouse (TCC) to, in collaboration with Creole specialists with whom she has established a basis of mutual trust, make use of the tools she created before the birth of MIT2 to improve the consistency and excellence of materials translated and produced in Creole languages. |
