The Master's Bass Club is a Christian fishing club. Founded as a ministry of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover, AL, the club now has over 40 members from various churches in the Birmingham area. Basically, a bunch of folks who loved fishing and Christ wanted to get away from the negative attitudes, swearing and drinking that often come from local clubs.
That's great but is the club competitive?
You better believe it. We fish to win. Make no mistake about it. But we have fun doing it. We start each tourney with a short devotional from one of the members and also meet again at lunch. We don't give away our "honey holes" but we may share a hint at a pattern.
Is there prize money involved?
Everybody likes winning something. We do award prizes for the top three places and big fish. It's not much, usually a little gift certificate to a local tackle shop. (Hint; it's not enough to pay for your boat but it may cover your gas expenses and help you replace the lures you lost that day!).
How often do you fish?
The Master's Bass Club is a member of the Alabama B.A.S.S. Federation and has 10-12 tournaments each year. (Plus a few "wildcats") Usually once a month except for January and twice a month during Spring and Fall. We also meet once a month. Meetings are full of fun and fellowship. We have guest speakers, conduct our draw for the upcoming tourney and take prayer requests.
