TicTacTrivia!
TicTacTrivia! is a game show type of application, in which two players can square off, or one player can play against the computer--YOU get to choose from one of six IQ levels for the computer. It has a well-polished, commercial look, and the 1500+ questions are just as high-quality as the game. The questions were authored by a high school teacher and quiz bowl coach, along with a host of 15 other contributors; they cover many different fields including science, social studies, literature, entertainment, sports, etc. There are even a few specialty categories such as Star Trek and Disney.
Quite simply, the object of the game is to win money (sorry, not real money) by getting three of your markers in a row. The nine squares on the board have categories assigned to them--you click on a square and gain control of that square if you answer a question correctly. All right, so I didn't invent the concept, but it's fun anyway!
TicTacTrivia has been featured on CDs with other outstanding shareware, and has gotten rave reviews from its many registered owners. It is also being used by many schools across the country with students. TTT is shareware, with a shareware fee of only $5. You can try it for free; if you like it, just send in your registration fee. Registered owners get some other benefits. For interested people, a TicTacTrivia! Editor is also available through the author for an extra $15 (or $20 total, including registration). With it, you can read and edit the question files (even cheat), and create your own from scratch.
The 72 Categories, each with a minimum of 20 questions:

Catch Seven
An all new experience in trivia/scholastic bowl/quiz game show type software! Since the author is a high school teacher who coaches an award-winning scholastic bowl team, you can be sure that Catch Seven is loaded with imaginative, interesting, and academically challenging questions. Catch Seven combines great graphics, sounds, and Mac interface with its great questions in a one-of-a-kind format. Catch Seven also has two modes--one- and two-player.
Players are given the name of a category, and are required to bid a number from one to seven. Once a high bidder has been established, the main game board appears, showing the category name and twelve items that may be members of that category--seven are members of the given category, but the other five are thrown in to try to fool you. You must try to click enough right items to meet your bid, but watch out! Any mistake along the way, and your opponent gets the points you bid.
For example, suppose the category is "STATES OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA". Included in the 12 options might be, "Tennessee", "Florida", and "Missouri". You must choose enough of the Confederate States to make your bid without hitting any of the wrong responses (such as "Missouri" in the example given). Of course, questions come from a wide variety of different disciplines and areas of interest.
Catch Seven is not just some trivia game stack or cheesy program with either easy or ridiculously trivial questions, or one with questions that run out after two games. The questions are guaranteed to entertain and educate at the same time, and for a shareware fee of, yes $7, Catch Seven's registered owners can be playing forever without feeling like they've used up the game--registering gives you access to so many categories, that by the time you repeat one, it will be totally different anyway since Catch Seven is programmed with a multitude of right and wrong responses--you'll go a LONG TIME (like, your Mac will be obsolete) before you see the same combination repeated.
Catch Seven also comes with an option to purchase the Catch Seven Editor, that allows teachers or other interested "academiacs" to write their auxiliary category files for use with the game. The Catch Seven Editor can be purchased by registered owners for an extra $13 (or by as yet unregistered owners for $20, which includes the registration fee).
If you enjoy a high-quality academic or intellectual challenge, then this is definitely worth the download!

MacPro Baseball
MacPro Baseball is shareware (shareware fee $20) created for those that enjoy simulating real Major League Baseball action; the game is complete with real baseball decision making and major league sounds (including home run calls). It is NOT intended to be an arcade-style game, but rather one in which the player gets to make strategic decisions about players in real game situations, such as setting the lineup, choosing pitchers, pinch hitting, calling on the bullpen, bunting, stealing, giving intentional walks. Registered owners can make these decisions in the context of a real pennant race, by using Season Play.
You get real baseball teams with real players whose long term performance depends on their real-life stats. With this version, you get the four playoff teams of last year (rosters updated as of Opening Day 1994) and the best of the remaining teams. Registered owners will receive all 28 teams and a 1994 schedule file, allowing them to simulate the 1994 season. In season mode, MacPro baseball allows you to track all major batting and pitching statistics and to list the league leaders or the players on one team.
Registered owners of MacPro Baseball can also purchase the MacPro Editor Fileset for an extra $20 (unregistered owners can get it all at once for a total of $40, which includes the registration fee). The Editor Fileset allows you to create your own updates to team and schedule files for use with MacPro Baseball.
MacPro is designed for color Macs. It is recommended that the current size be set at 2200K for best performance.

Mouse Fun 4 Kids
This game is a great way for young or pre-school users to learn to use the Mac and the mouse, while learning some basic information as well. Mouse Fun gives encouraging messages and lots of positive reinforcement along the way. My three-year-old loves it, and will play it for a long, long time! With the different modes of play, it is great for a wide variety of kids.
Another version of Mouse Fun is also available. Named Mouse Fun/Presidents & Shapes, this version includes all of the activities of the previous version, along with the faces of all of the US Presidents from Washington through Clinton (yes, a 3-year old can learn them!) and different colored shapes to identify. This version, unlike its predecessor, requires a Mac with the Speech Manager installed.
Both versions of Mouse Fun 4 Kids are shareware, with a shareware fee of $5. With both versions, for a $20 fee (which includes registration), users can have the author install their child's photo in the title screen--a great gift idea! My kid loves to see her photo when the game begins!
