The Newman Police Department provides numerous programs to the residents of the City of Newman. Crime Prevention is an area of public relations activities provided. The department will send an officer to a neighborhood watch group to offer Crime Provention tips and the officer will assist the group in setting up their own "Neighborhood Watch" group in their block. The officer will demonstrate to the group ways that they can protect their homes and property including marking their property with identification numbers, improving lighting around the home, alarm systems, improving locks, securing automobiles any many other ideas that will make the home owner and their neighbors more aware of each others property while one or the other is away from home.
