Confirming the relegation of the First Team to Division 2 of the MSCL, and the survival of the Second Team in the same Division.

Third and Fourth Teams finished in the bottom half of Division 4.

Very close to the end of the season...First Team, despite a couple of stirring performances at the end of the season, are relegated to Division 2.  Although the Second Teams position in Division 2 looks precarious, I believe the team is likely to remain in Division 2.  The Third and Fourth Teams have not had bad seasons and are mid table in Division 4.

Atleast halfway through the season and things are starting to hot up in the MSCL.  It's all relative anyway.

The First Team has had a very poor first half of the season, losing five straight games and now lies bottom of Division One.  However, as we welcome a new member to the club, Alessandro Bonanno who will be eligible for the first team (grade c 159) hopefully the teams overall results will improve.  Most recent game on 15th January away to Hastings 2 saw a scratch team of David Fryer, David Grant, Robert Fisher, Mark Attree and Zarko Lupejovic go down 3-2 (subject to one adjourned game).  So near yet so far to the first half-point.

The Second Team have a record of one win, two draws and one defeat.  The last being a heavy loss to Horsham 2 at home by 4-1.  Horsham defaulted top board (which was very unfortunate for Alex Galliano) due to a double tyre puncture.  That left Mark Attree, Jim Hall, David Simpkins and Colin Wakefield to suffer.

The Thirds are having a moderate season and the Fourths a less than moderate season.  Updates to follow when available.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Team started off with a defeat to a very strong Haywards Heath 1, including Simon Williams on Board 1.  Second team secured a 3-2 win over Horsham 3, with wins for Mark Attree and Jim Hall, draws for Robert Fisher and Dave Simpkins and a loss for Heyo Reimers, though he looked to be ahead at one stage.  The Fourth Team lost to Uckfield.

Other early results for the EG teams in the Mid Sussex League have been mixed (as usual).  The first team have lost both of the openers (and are playing home matches at Forest Row Community Centre).  The second team have started with a win against Horsham 3 and a draw against Woodpushers.  The Fourth Team have one solitary draw from 3 games and the Thirds have a win from two, also in Division 4.

Preliminary dates have been given to us by the league.  A certain amount of adjustment is now possible until 13th October.  We will attempt to play 2 matches on one night sometimes in order to free up more club nights.

We will be running four teams this year in the Mid Sussex Chess League, nominations to be submitted are:

1st Team, David Fryer (176), Joe Fraser (167), Trevor Norton (167), David Grant (134)

2nd Team, Mark Attree (130), Alex Galliano (128), John Scholey (124), Robert Fisher (121)

3rd Team, David Norton (114), Jim Hall (105), David Simpkins (96), ian Cobb (91).

No nominations required for 4th Team.  All this assumes these members wish to rejoin for this season.
