There's plenty to do

Make the McKenzie River Valley your year 'round Recreation Destination. Even in winter, lower elevation locations like the Delta Old Growth Trail or the McKenzie River National Recreation Trail will often be open to hikers. Old growth firs and cedars along these routes tower over vibrantly green rich mosses and undergrowth.

As always, the McKenzie River continues to run clear and cool through it all. Seasonal rains, of course, increase the volume of water coming from mountain slopes and rushing tributaries and many more waterfalls make their seasonal appearance. Kayakers and other river runners can often be found at some challenging spots or honing their skills at the popular Redsides hole.

Further to the East and up past the snowline, recreationists will find there's lots to do in a vast winter wonderland. U.S. Forest Service maintained Sno Parks allow access to the back country for X-country skiers, snowshoers and snowmobilers. Tubers and Alpine fans have been accommodated as well with runs at White Branch and the Hoodoo Ski Area, respectively. After a day of play, you can always treat yourself to a relaxing soak in a mineral hot springs pool.

There's plenty to please you when you make the McKenzie River Valley your Recreation Destination. Come visit us in any season, we know you'll want to return again and again.
