Although the origins of KNIGHTMARES go back to 1986, the first official edition of the magazine wasn't printed until 1991 and was digest-sized (5 1/2 x 8 1/2). The magazine became a half-legal (7 x 8 1/2) with Volume 1, Number 3 in 1992. In 1993, for Volume 3, Numbers 2 and 3, KNIGHTMARES graduated to a full-sized (8 1/2 x 11) publication. After a brief hiatus, KNIGHTMARES entered the electronic medium as a DOS magazine. In late 1997, the magazine became a Windows 95/NT-based publication. In April of 1998, the magazine--which was the most widely read electronic publication of its kind--was forced into another hiatus due to lack of reader-support/feedback (not, of course, readership).
