MARX FILES MEMO: Ideas From "Toy King" Louis Marx (L.M. was always looking for the next big hit!) "When you think of it, the biggest amount of people see horse racing, 67 million. The next large number is auto racing, 50 million. The third is football and the fourth is baseball. Therefor anything in horses should be a big thing, and auto racing for that matter." | Welcome! This is the home of "The Marx Files"; a significant and historical collection of materials from the original Louis Marx & Company (Marx Toys) archives. Many years of searching, detective work, travel and research has brought together what is now known as "The Marx Files". We are proud of how much we have been able to "re-unite", after so long! Now, MarxFiles.com and ToyMemories.com... destined to be the caretakers of an important part of toy history. The Marx Files materials originated primarily from Glen Dale (Engineering Dept./Model Room), as well as Erie, Girard, and the New York offices of the original Marx Toys. We'd like to thank everyone for their interest, support and help that has been involved with this. And we thank you for taking the time to visit with us at... MarxFiles.com. |

MARX FILES MEMO: "Let's make a talking Marvel the Mustang for 1970. This will be the standard Girard talking unit fitted into the side of the horses neck of a new horses head. This will have a little door on the side to fit in a battery and when a single button is pushed you get an assortment of noises coming out of holes molded and rather hidden in the mane. We may need a slightly resilient mounting for the talking unit with foam rubber or foam polyurathane pads to prevent shock damage but normally it ought to be alright and the battery box could be seperate and wired up to the unit." (-Ray Lohr, January 1969) |
