Tour of Northeast Ohio Drive-in Theatres - The Magic City

Magic City Drive-In, 5602 S. Cleveland-Massillon Road, Barberton, Ohio 44203-7828. 330-825-4333. Built in 1948. Capacity 700 cars. Two screens which both face west. There is a special projection booth at the back of the lot to handle screen 2. Radio sound. Nice concession stand. Remnants of a playground in front of screen 1. New in 2001, the staff is wearing cool Magic City Drive-In T-Shirts. Opened in the spring of 1949. $13 per carload. Now owned by Gary Grieve, who also owns Wadsworth's Blue Sky Drive-In.

Located in Barberton, where the high school team name is the Barberton Magics, and the town is known as the Magic City, the original marquee had a genie painted up at the top. Here is a link to a photo from Don and Susan Sander's American Drive-In site:
