Welcome to Melodie Hill
The hill is home to llamas and natural colored angora goats, and we share their world. Here you will find breeding stock, pets, mohair, llama wool, both llama wool, and mohair for doll hair, information about caring for llamas and angora goats and advice on using their fiber. Melodie Hill is located in the Inland Empire area of Southern California, about 50 miles east of Los Angeles. We have a charming herd of llamas of various colors and wool types, with colored (and white) angora goats adding to the colorful display. It seems that the most difficult color to obtain in llamas is often the easiest in angora goats and vise-versa Our llamas have a variety of fiber types including, dual coated, fluffy-almost single coated, and very fine, silky types. We have all types for sale. Our goats all tend to have finer wool than many angoras, due to their color backgrounds.
About us: We came to this life after spending our youths and married lives in the city. After our daughter became involved in the F.F.A. in Orange County we moved to the Inland Empire in order to have space for her projects and began collecting various other animals. Times change and lives evolve and we came to own a small herd of angora goats, breeding them for color, a couple of dairy goats, left over from our daughter's projects and assorted other critters. By this time, I was an avid spinner and these mainly fiber animals kept the wheel turning. Then along came llamas. The original plan was to have just one----ha! Now with 15 llamas, around 30 goats, and the assorted other animals one of us trundles off to Los Angeles to work and the other exits via the back door to tend the animals. Our daughter has grown and left, but her daughter is a frequent visitor and no longer the little tyke that appears in many of the pictures, she often lends a helping hand.
