What could be better after being stuck at home, sick with bronchitis for two weeks, than to take (another?) trip to Los Angeles to see Garett? (See, Carol Ann got sick first, and being the good roommate that she is, she gave it to me!) Okay, maybe my sense of logic was a bit skewed, but I had cabin fever bad.
After another looong, boring 11+ hour trip, we arrived in Arcadia. The trip was uneventful, except for the usual excitement when we passed the "Bun Boy" billboards outside Baker, California. (For some unknown reason, the name makes me think of a certain gorgeous, long-haired anthropologist. <veg>) When we arrived at the racetrack, much to my sense of paranoia, no-one seemed to know that Garett was supposed to be at the racetrack. I kept thinking that we had made the trek for nothing. Well, not nothing. We had left Salt Lake with snow coming down, to arrive in California to a beautiful, sunny, 70-degree day. So, when the 4th race began, I suggested to Carol Ann that she call the racetrack information line when she went in to make another bet to see if Garett would, in fact, be at the track. When she came out, she informed me that he would be there, to present the trophy to the winner of the 7th race. Here are a few of the pictures I took.
