Vanna Bonta has written poems and short stories since age six. She is the author of FLIGHT: A Quantum Fiction Novel, four poetry collections, and assorted works, essays, and songs. Bonta is best known for her creation of AIRA FLIGHT, the girl amnesiac with no navel featured in Bonta’s FLIGHT trilogy.
One of Bonta's stories was purchased by Paramount for Star Trek: The Next Generation, selected personally by the legendary series creator, Gene Roddenberry. When Bonta walked into Roddenberry’s office on the Paramount studio lot to develop the story, Roddenberry asked her to take his suggestions as a colleague. He said to Bonta that even though the sign on his door read 'Executive Producer,' when he listed his occupation on a Sears credit card application, he had written, "‘Writer’...just like you."
FLIGHT, Vanna Bonta's debut novel set in the space age, defined and brought the genre quantum fiction to mainstream shelves.
Bonta's poetry has been awarded two medals by literary committees in Florence, Italy, where the late, celebrated Italian poet Margherita Guidacci introduced Bonta as an "important discovery." Bonta's writings have been translated into Japanese, French, and Italian.
Bonta has a side career in movies and television, working primarily as a voiceover actor. She had a cameo playing the hero's young mother in the fantasy classic The Beastmaster, and her voice is heard in select films and television programs.
