Mezzo-Soprano Fenlon Lamb American mezzo-soprano Fenlon Lamb is emerging as a young artist who consistently performs with great vocal skill and excellent style to high critical acclaim. Described as “sweet voiced” and “alluring”, Ms. Lamb enjoyed high marks for many recent title role portrayals. Tri-Cities Herald said of her performance as CARMEN, “Lamb is excellent. Her strong, well-trained voice is a pleasure to hear. Her acting abilities are polished.” The Baltimore Sun applauded her AGRIPPINA by saying “In the title role, Fenlon Lamb revealed a bright, flexible voice, ever-brilliant phrasing and theatrical flourish.” The Plain Dealer praised her IOLANTHE, sung with “fetching dignity and vocal allure.”

Highlights from recent seasons include Dorabella COSÌ FAN TUTTE for the Caramoor International Music Festival, Mezzo BERLIN TO BROADWAY for Lyric Opera of Cleveland, and Charlotte WERTHER for Opera Vivente. Most recently she reprised the role of Dorabella with Opera Santa Barbara and returned to Cleveland Opera to sing the role of Wife COME TO ME IN DREAMS, a world premiere with baritone Sanford Sylvan. Upcoming performances include; Beggar Woman SWEENEY TODD and Martha FAUST both for Cleveland Opera, Rosina IL BARBIERI DI SEVIGLIA with Sacramento Opera and Mrs. Grose TURN OF THE SCREW for Opera Vivente.

A versatile performer, Ms. Lamb is comfortable in opera, operetta and on the concert stage. She made her concert debut with The Cleveland Orchestra as Angelina LA CENERENTOLA, followed by Kate PIRATES OF PENZANCE with Cleveland Opera, and the Beggar Woman SWEENEY TODD for Toledo Opera. Ms Lamb has been soloist in the BEETHOVEN 9TH with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra as well as appearing as a POPS Soloist with the orchestra. She was also invited as soloist in the BEETHOVEN MASS IN C with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra.

Ms. Lamb received her training through several fine apprentice programs throughout the United States. She was accepted to the Santa Fe Opera apprentice program in 1999 and 2000 where she covered the Third Maid ELEKTRA and Dryade ARIADNE AUF NAXOS. As a member of the Seattle Opera Studio, her assignments included Dorabella COSÍ FAN TUTTE, Zerlina DON GIOVANNI and as a Baltimore Opera Studio artist, she sang such roles as Larina EUGENE ONÉGIN, and Countess de Coigny ANDREA CHÈNIER. The Washington Post said of that performance: “Lovely mezzo, Fenlon Lamb, sang the self-centered Contessa to perfection.”

Training continued with Cleveland Opera's On Tour division where Ms. Lamb gained extensive experience singing operas in English. She sang over 50 performances in such roles as Angelina CINDERELLA, Nicklausse TALES OF HOFFMANN, and Rosina BARBER OF SEVILLE. She is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music where she holds a Masters of Music in Opera Performance along with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Santa Cruz. While in her earlier training, she performed the roles of Cherubino LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Meg Page FALSTAFF, Dido DIDO AND AENEAS, Rosina IL BARBIERIE DI SEVIGLIA, Idamante IDOMENEO and Mrs. Grose TURN OF THE SCREW.
