I am very happy (ecstatic really!) to announce that International & American Champion (and BOW at the 2000 Specialty!) Lady Budarooski (hereinafter addressed as "Buddy" or "Bud"), is due to whelp on February 15 or 16! She was bred to Ch. Caledonia's Second Promise, "Mulder", WD and Award of Merit winner at the same Specialty, who has probably the best rear end I've ever seen on a Mastiff! He has also produced some extremely nice puppies, one of which I own. (See Comstock Puppy Page for pictures of my "Obie".) To see more pictures of Mulder, please follow the link to Deb Jones'
Stud Dogs website. His vital statistics and complete health testing are listed there. Mulder is owned and loved by Scott and Kellye Brenner of Tennessee.
The National Specialty was Buddy's second show ever, so I'm understandably very proud of her and have great expectations for this litter. They should be spectacular! And that is, of course, a totally unbiased opinion!
Buddy did go on to many more wins after the Specialty and I'm including a few of her show photos to sort of counterbalance her "beached whale" look below.

These pictures show Buddy as she becomes more and more expectant. The two righthand photos (taken on Feb. 11) show her drying out in her whelping box after a bath. In the side shot, she's giving me that "I should be relaxing in front of my fireplace" look! In the head-on shot, she's doing her pitiful preggers look! She's playing this for all it's worth: whining, moaning, & groaning then looks at me to see if I notice! I tried to get pictures of her in the tub but she'd have none of that! If I was getting out of the tub, so was she!
Buddy delivered nine beautiful puppies by C-Section on Valentine's day. There are five males and 4 females. Two of the pups are fawn (1 male & 1 female) and the rest are brindles. Buddy recovered quickly and the pups first nursing was at the vets.
The pups made it home safely in their special travel basket and had their second nursing bathed in the glow of the infra-red warming light. Colored ID ribbons were attached and photos (of course) taken. The photo on the right is of one of my pups-an apricot brindle puppygirl. Is she dark or is she dark? The pacifier is used when cutting toenails.

The remaining eight pups are all doing fine. Just to be safe they are no longer nursing on Buddy but are being bottle-fed goat's milk. Buddy also seems to be recovering from the mastitis-her temperature is back to normal.
Some of the kids are beginning to develop personalities. Green Jeans wants to play but the rest of them haven't figured out what he wants, so naturally, Mom (thats me) has to play with him! They're walking pretty well for 2. 1/2 weeks old. Yellow thinks he can gallop but doesn't know just how to start so ends up in a heap! Too cute!
The photos below were taken by Debi at 3 weeks of age (the pups-not Debi) and list the pups weights in pounds and ounces. The 2 MB space alloted for this page has been filled up so I couldn't include any extra 3 week pictures. Those will be shown on Page Two when I get it up and running.
