Early Welsh Poetry
The following poems were translated for William F. Skene in the 19th century. They are therefore free of copyright. The poems and Skene's theories on Arthur and the early British are currently available in an edited version of Skene's Four Ancient Books of Wales entitled Arthur and the Britons of Wales and Scotland (1988) from Derek Bryce of Llanerch Publishers. Remember these are 19th century translations, many of which have been superseded by better modern translations. However, I believe Skene's version still allows us to get the feeling and, for the most part, the context of the poems even if the word choices are no longer favored. The titles listed below are as they appeared in Skene's work; modern titles are included within the parenthesis as needed. The poems were translated for Skene by Revd. Robert Williams.
