Welcome
Welcome to the Triangle Radio Pirates' Radio Reactive page*.
We strive to be the number one voice of discontent over the content of
commercial radio programming in the Raleigh-Durham radio market. While
the ad revenue figures are impressive for our market and it is projected to
be the third fastest growing market in the country, the music and program
content is as hollow and over repetitive as ever. If you are a true music
listener and music enthusiast, you will be dismayed at the state of
commercial radio programming these days not just in Raleigh-Durham but
nationwide as well. The commercial radio industry-- just like politics--
is run by focus groups, hype and pandering to demographic formulae. Who is
to blame for this sad state of affairs? Just like in politics it is the
voters (or perhaps the non-voters) who keep supporting an inherently flawed
system.
*This is an online response to a print publication known as
"Radio Active" published by Triangle Radio Partners, Inc.
They are a trade group for the Triangle radio market. Their publication
focuses on methods to better market and advertise over the radio but
mentions virtually nothing about the music. Surprised?
- We strive to awaken listeners of radio to the musical variety,
spontaneity, creativity and exposure that they are missing out on.
- We want to be a sounding board for listener discontent
in the Raleigh-Durham radio market through our message boards and links
to our discontent pages created by and for our visitors.
- We want to put pressure on the forces that be to initiate
change or at the very least acknowledge that the current status quo
does not live up to an artistic standard.
- We want to illustrate through various articles and features
that musical variety and exposure is shafted for profit-only considerations.
Also, we want to enlighten you to the behind the scenes stories and facts
that concern how potentially good programming gets stifled in the current
climate of commercially obsessed radio.
- Present to you the question of whether radio today really serves
the public interest as the F.C.C. intended and to ponder the role of government
regulation in radio.
- Spur legal, small scale micro-fm services throughout our market
and draw the attraction of would be pirate radio broadcasters.
Station Flame Pages
So let's get started! Follow the links below to our sites on
your most unfavorite stations. We are ready

station flame pages, submit your links to the appropriate station site

wish added, go to the request station page. If you are in
another market and you want to submit comments about your market's stations-
we have a site for you as well.
Enjoy!
