This truck was originally purchased by the Vigilant Engine and Hook & Ladder Company of the Great Neck NY Fire Department. It was delivered in November of 1970. It is a 900 series Dominon model 1500 GPM pumper. The unit has a Twin-Flow two stage American LaFrance fire pump. The truck is equipped with an onboard 1500 watt inverter which powers floodlights and electrical outlets. The truck has a 500 gallon booster tank, two 3/4 booster reels, seven 2-1/2" discharges, and two 6" side and one 5" front suction, as well as one side and one rear 2-1/2" auxilary suctions. The motor is a Detriot Diesel 6-71 turbo which develops 270 horse power, it also has an Allison MT-644 automatic transmission. This truck was refurbished and repowered with the diesel engine and automatic transmission in June of 1983 by American LaFrance. The apparatus is equipped with 1000 ft of 5" supply hose, two 1-3/4" crosslays, one each rear 1-3/4", 2-1/2 and 3" lays. This truck is equipped as it came out of service from the fire department in 1999.
