This truck was originally purchased by the New York City Fire Department. It was delivered in March of 1981, as part of an order placed with American LaFrance for 80 pumpers. It was assigned FDNY Shop number AP8042, and was originally assigned to 295 Engine in Queens where it shared quarters with 144 Truck. It is a Century series 1000 GPM pumper. The unit has a Twin-Flow two stage American LaFrance fire pump. The truck has a 500 gallon booster tank, one 3/4 booster reel, five 2-1/2" discharges, and two 5" side and one 5" front suction, as well as two side 2-1/2" auxilary suctions. The motor is a Detriot Diesel 6-71T turbo which develops 275 horse power, it also has an Allison MT-644 automatic transmission. This truck will be refurbished and restored to as close to original deivery condition as possible. The apparatus is equipped with 1000 ft of 3" supply hose, two 1-3/4" crosslays, and one each side rear 2-1/2" lays. This truck will be equipped as close as it can be when it was in service FDNY. It was in active fire service from 1981 to 1986, when it went into reserve status. It was disposed of by FDNY sometime in 1992.
I have to thank Northern Fire Equipment of Watertown NY for helping me secure parts that were missing from this truck to restore it to the current condition.
