Feast of Tabernacles - Sites for 2005

(Updated 10/13/05)

On this page we have begun to assemble a listing of Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) sites for the year 2005. If you are sponsoring a site this year, or if you know of other sites being planned for 2005, e-mail the information to us at info@olivebranches.net for inclusion on our list. Or write to us at: Olive Branches, PO Box 1293, Fairview, TN 37062.

We have also retained last years listing for temporary reference (see FOT '04) but be aware that many sites change from year to year. If you refer to the old listing, do not make firm plans based on last years information unless you have verified that the site will be used again this year.

(Note that on occasion we have experienced a problem with our ISP not forwarding e-mail to us via our "info@olivebranches.net" address, which has hindered our efforts in the past. Hopefully this situation has been corrected. However, if you have tried to contact us via this address and had your e-mails "bounce", please send your message again using this alternative address: mikestyer@aol.com.)

For visitors to this page that are unfamiliar with the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), see our brief article titled What Is The Feast of Tabernacles?

The year 2005 Feast of Tabernacles will be observed from (beginning at sundown, October 17th) October 18th through October 25th by most groups. A few groups use different calendar systems so when contacting the sponsoring groups for more information be sure to confirm the dates, ask about specific meeting locations, meeting formats, and obtain a schedule of events, activities, and suggestions for local accommodations. Many of the Feast of Tabernacles site sponsors will have additional up-to-date information on their web site (so check out the links provided for the latest info).

Please note that there are differences in the customs and beliefs of some of the various site sponsors. Please do your "homework" before visiting an unfamiliar site to avoid unexpected surprises. We have developed this listing as a service to those interested in attending a Feast of Tabernacles site, and do not necessarily endorse all of the teachings of the various groups and individuals.

We encourage you to contact the sponsors of the site you may be interested in attending for more information and to let them know of your interest and the number of people in your family or group. This will help them in planning for adequate facilities and resources to serve the group. Feast site venues can range from large urban "convention centers" to remote rural campgrounds, so please take the time to ensure that the site is compatible with your needs. Smaller sites that are set up primarily for campers will usually welcome "commuters" as well, but you may be on your own to locate nearby accommodations. Some sites require advanced registration, and may require a registration fee. This allows the site sponsors to anticipate and meet the needs of all those planning to attend.

Interest in the annual Holy Days (or "Feasts of the Lord", see Leviticus 23:1-44) and the deep meaning contained in their rich symbolism has enjoyed somewhat of a revival in recent years. More and more groups and individuals are re-discovering the Holy Days and are attempting to recognize and observe them in some fashion in order to learn and benefit from them as instructional aids of the deeper truths of God. Although most of the sponsoring groups listed below are from the sabbatarian community, a few are not, as interest in the Biblical Festivals is spreading throughout the Christian community.

A few sites are designated with (HR). These are "Hebraic Roots" oriented sites. These sites can be particularly interesting and educational. For more information about these, click here. Formats and activities will vary, so contact the sponsors directly for specific details. If you are sponsoring a site of this type, please inform us so that we can designate it as such.

The year 2005 Feast of Tabernacles site listing follows. We will continue to add and update information as it is received, so check back often!

NOTE! - Due to the recent series of hurricanes along the south Atlantic and Gulf coasts, if you are planning to attend a site in these areas be sure to contact the site sponsors to VERIFY that the site will still be used. There may be several last minute cancellations or changes in venue.

Feastgoer.org This is another feast site listing service that is just getting started this year. Check them out at http://www.feastgoer.org .

The UK Churches of God website has a list of many festival sites in the UK for 2005. Go to http://churches-of-god.7p.org.uk/festival.html.

"The Journal", a monthly newspaper covering news of interest to the various sabbatarian Churches of God, usually publishes a listing of Feast of Tabernacles sites around the world beginning in the Spring and continuing in each issue leading up to the Feast. They also follow up with reports from many of the Festival sites in the next several issues published after the Feast. Subscription information can be found on their web site at http://www.thejournal.org/. Back issues are usually available at $2 each. (Sometimes a copy of their published Feast site listing also appears on their website).

The Four Species: Those who are interested in incorporating the "Four Species" (see Leviticus 23:40) into your Feast of Tabernacles (Succot) observance may be interested in what "Zaid Reuven's Esrog Farm" has to offer. In addition to making available the "Four Species", owner David Wiseman has also authored two interesting books titled "The Esrog" and "Tabernacles-Succot: When the Messiah Feasts with Jews and Gentiles", written from an observant Jewish perspective. For more information, see our Zaide Reuven's Esrog Farm page.

Additional Publications that include Feast of Tabernacles / Sukkot site listings in their hardcopy editions are: Servants' News, and Hebrew Roots.

More Resources: A great list of useful information and links related to Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) was provided to us by Charity Dell, and is available HERE.

The Feast in Israel

As can be seen in the above listing of Feast sites, a number of groups are hosting Feast of Tabernacles / Sukkot "sites" in Israel. In addition to these, the ICEJ has sponsored a Feast of Tabernacles event in Jerusalem for over 20 years. Additional information is given below:

The ICEJ hosted Feast of Tabernacles in Israel

Probably the best known "event" taking place in Israel during Sukkot is the Feast of Tabernacles celebration in Jerusalem hosted by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. Their main web site is at http://www.icej.org/ and information specifically about the Feast can be found at:

http://www.icej.org/feast/index.html

The dates for 2005 are: October 16 - October 23

For more information, call: (202) 966-6992

Email: tours@icejusa.org

Below are some excerpts from the ICEJ web site:
---------------------------------------------------------------------

"Christian supporters of Israel established the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem as a practical expression of the desire of believers throughout the world to bless and comfort Zion."

"Every year the Embassy hosts a Christian celebration during the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem, where thousands of believers come up to worship the God of Israel, in anticipation of that future time when God's promises through the prophet Zechariah, chapter 14, are fulfilled."

The Feast of Tabernacles
"The Bible describes the Feast of Tabernacles as the third of three annual feasts which the people of Israel are commanded to celebrate in Jerusalem. The Feast of Tabernacles, or Succot, recalls the 40 years of wandering in the Wilderness, and also marks a time of celebration and rejoicing over the ingathering of the fall harvests. Traditionally, the Jewish people identify the Feast of Tabernacles with the coming of the Messiah. It is also the Jewish feast with the most universal significance in biblical times, as the Gentile nations were invited to come worship the Lord with them in Jerusalem. According to the prophetic vision of Zechariah 14, the nations will one day come up to Jerusalem to celebrate Tabernacles during Messiah's reign on earth."

The Christian Celebration During The Feast Of Tabernacles
"Since 1980 the Christian Embassy has sponsored the Christian celebration of Succot in Jerusalem in accordance with the Hebrew calendar. It is a time when Christians bring praise and worship to the God of Israel, receive Bible teaching, and enjoy fellowship with Christians from many nations, all in the heart of the holy city and modern Israel. It is now the largest annual tourist event in Israel, drawing over 5000 Christians from over 100 nations each year for nine days of anointed events."

There are a number of groups going over to participate in this celebration of the Feast. Although I do not have a listing of such groups, one that I happen to be aware of is organized by Richard Booker of "Sounds of the Trumpet' Inc." There is a website at: http://www.rbooker.com/index.htm and for specific information on Richards "Israel Feast of Tabernacles Teaching Tour", go to: http://www.rbooker.com/tour/tour.htm.
