Thanks for visiting the UMass Chat Room. I've set this up using an outside service, so here are some things you should know first:

• This Chat Room uses Java technology. If you Web browser can't handle Java, you won't be able to use the room. Most current Web browsers incorporate Java, so you shouldn't have a problem if you have a more-recent version of Netscape Navigator/Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. For America Online users, AOL now uses MSIE as their browser, you'll see "Powered by (e logo)" in the corner if you've got it. Visit these links to download the Netscape or Microsoft browsers.

• Password option. When you enter your information to log-in to the Chat Room, there is a field for Password. You don't need to enter anything here, this Room does not require a password.

• Chat Room accessibility/performance. As this room is hosted by an outside service, I have no control over it's accessibility or performance. If you can't get into the room or the room is acting strangely, you can let me know by e-mail, but remember that there's not much I can do. • Chat Room guidelines. All participants in the Chat Room must adhere to the usage guidelines as set forth by the service provider. Do not post "any material that is or may be considered libelous, obscene, defamatory, infringing of any third party's intellectual property rights (including copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret or other proprietary rights or rights of publicity or privacy) or violation of any law, statute, ordinance or regulation."
  In brief, keep it clean and we'll be cool.
