LOVEY AND MILLY

Photo is of Lovey, my White Dove for over 16 years, and myself, Milly. It was taken back in 1983 a couple of months after his arrival to my home. The photo of me is my recent one. It was taken by a co-worker of mine, and I had a friend scan it for me. It was taken the end of January, 1999. We live in Houston, Texas.

Here are my hobbies and interests: First, there are the birds. I love them so much. Next, I like to do things on my PC, like "fixing" photos and graphics on my PSP (Paint Shop Pro). I also enjoy reading and watching movies on TV. I love to travel and had not done so since 1993, after my last visit to my Mom, up in New England. No flying whatsoever since then!! Later that year Lovey fractured his wing, and that ended the trips away from the Houston area. My "wings were clipped" and I had been with him every night until last Wednesday to Friday, when I ventured on my first trip in six years. I spent two nights in Biloxi, Mississippi. Lovey stayed with our veterinarian and staff, so I really "took the plunge," being without him. I really enjoyed the trip, but I am so relieved now that I am home, and Lovey is back with me. Later I will describe briefly in my section below about my travels about this latest one.

Both of these beautiful photos, I have downloaded from one of my newly selected Favorite Places, POTW Home Page. Aren't these Emperor Penguins just beautiful? And the Passenger Pigeon, which is today, extinct, was such a gorgeous creature. It is saddening that this misfortune had to occur. But it is living by this beautiful photograph! This is such a beautiful photograph of one of my favorite birds, the Mourning Dove, which I have here to express to you, my very deep love for these creatures. My life has been blessed by their presence, has yours?

Another of my favorites, is our State Bird! His music is "magic" to my ears. Mockingbirds are known to mimic other birds, but, they indirectly, "mimic" my heart strings when they sing their hearts out! Before this photo above, I have never heard of a Nashville Warbler. The photographer, Marcus Martin, Marcus Martin's Home Page, took this beautiful photo, and can you see the love when you look at this bird? Everytime I look at this "precious pose" of this darling little bird, love flows out of me. Please visit his site.

This darling little bird is a "Wood Thrush". I wish to thank all my bird friends for identifying him. But, still, the photographer is "Anonymous". But I have found a paradise, a place of refuge and serenity. It is a place close to home, my "homey" wilderness, a unique place of beauty. A place I love, after three visits. The last, earlier this year, I got chased out by mosquitoes. And without protection, bites on my neck, hands and face. But, got to learn sometime. So, my next visit, I will be prepared!! Thought I would share with you some of my favorite travels.

I went on an escorted camping and river rafting tour to interior Alaska in July of 1983. And I went on an escorted tour to Hawaii in July of 1972.

In 1977-1978, I went to, Switzerland that New Year's week. That was the best New Years Eve I had ever had.

Besides, I have traveled throughout the Continental United States and also, Canada, Mexico, The Bahamas and the Virgin Islands.

I love Seattle, and Portland, Oregon. I really enjoyed my visit to Victoria and Vancover, Canada, as well as Seattle, back in in 1969. I again, visited Seattle in 1988. I went to south central Oregon in 1991. In 1986 and 1990, I visited the Portland area.

As you see, I put my travels, not in order. So, my new one will be my last. My trip June 23 to June 25, 1999 to Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. I was enchanted by the Cirque du Soleil performance of "Alegria". After I heard advertisements about the show, I just had to go.
