Buck Dharma In Concert
for
The Ricky Browning Fund & Children’s Hospice Division
Hospice Atlanta
Friday, April 11, 1997
Gwinnett Performing Arts Center
Duluth, Georgia
- Buck Dharma will be performing a concert,
...to benefit a very special Godzilla fan who has been fighting a battle with brain cancer.
Along with the concerts, there will also be a Fund Raising Dinner on Thursday, April 10, and
a second show will be added on Saturday, April 12 if the first show sells out. Buck will also be
doing Public Service Announcements on radio and TV for the cause. Profits will benefit the Ricky Browning Fund and the Children’s Hospice Division of Hospice Atlanta.
All are welcome to attend this very unique night of Rock and Roll!
- Ricky Browning is a ten-year-old boy who was treated by the hospice due to an inoperable brain tumor.
It was his love for our favorite monster, Godzilla, that caused him to come to the attention of Buck Dharma.
Ricky believes that Godzilla is fighting his Brain Tumor, and thus far, his belief in the “big green guy”
has helped. After 4 tedious months of chemotherapy, he is back in school and the tumor is shrinking!
When Ricky's story was published in Atlanta’s newspaper, people from all over the country helped Ricky plight by sending
Godzilla toys, movies and souvenirs. Since then, Ricky has become familiar with the song that Buck wrote
about Godzilla, as well as “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.” Ricky says he’s a lot better after hearing “The Reaper.”
He said it taught him a lesson, and he is no longer scared of dying after hearing and seeing the lyrics.
- Hospice Atlanta treats and cares for terminally ill children, providing a caring environment where
they can go to die with dignity, without pain and surrounded by their loved ones. Hospice Atlanta is at the
forefront of this progressive care, allowing children and families choices not usually available in traditional
health care, like choosing to not use machines to prolong life, or to be able to die peacefully at home instead
of at the hospital. Hospice care is not covered by a lot of insurance companies, and they treat a child
regardless of the family’s ability to pay.
- SPONSORSHIP
- Silver level of sponsorship is any donation under $250, including the ticket donation, for which you will
receive acknowledgement in the concert program.
- Gold level of sponsorship is $250 and up, for which you’ll get 2 tickets for the concert in first four rows.
- Platinum Level of sponsorship is $500 and up, which includes 2 tickets for the concert, and the “meet Buck
Dharma night” for two at the fund-raising dinner.
- Anyone can buy a ticket to the show, even if they cannot attend. If you send a $25 ticket donation,
you will receive an actual ticket to the show and a voucher will be issued to a child or family of a child
who is or has been treated at the Scottish Rite Hospital or Hospice Atlanta. Even if you cannot attend the event,
donations of any amount would go a long way toward helping Hospice Atlanta and Ricky Browning.
