Our Mission:...
The WWW "haystack" is growing hourly by the 1000's and trying to find
one's "needles" of interest is becoming more challenging
and frustrating with every passing minute. Therefore, Allan's Wood Miser's Workshop's policy is to get serious about dedicating
the time and energy necessary to search out and document relevant links in
order to help make your woodworking web surfing experience less frustrating,
more informative, and most of all,...
much more enjoyable!
The below links can best be described as "Oasis sites" or those that
are like well stocked rest stops on your long tireless woodworking trek
across the vast WWW. These sites have just about everything you need..
and then some...
These individual woodworkers sites were selected because they use
their web space not only to say "look what I've done!", but also
to say "look what you can do!". They
foster the same spirit of help and "hand up" assistance that inspired Allan's
Wood Miser's Workshop.
Some great places to hang out on line with other wood buddies and
trade ideas, get help when you get stuck, or just chew the fat about our
beloved medium.
Lots of folks come by AWM Workshop looking for free plans, and with
that in mind I'm sure you've heard the phrase, "There's no such thing as
a free lunch"...... O'contraire mon-rare! There are quite a few sites
offering some freebies out there, but keep in mind these folks put a lot
of work into these plans and for the sake of the community as a whole it
wouldn't hurt to fork over a few sawbucks every now and then.
Some of the sites below contain indexes of hundreds more links
to plans, so if you can't find what you're looking for... maybe you better
look for a new hobby!
...... the most sought after possession since the dawn of early man. Individuals such as Caesar, Alexander the Great, and Napoleon earned their place in history because of their relentless and obsessive pursuit of POWER. But you don't have to go to all that trouble misers & miserettes... we got POWER for you right here. Instead of procuring large numbers of weapons, hiring twenty or thirty thousand foot soldiers, and conquering a couple of continents...all YOU have to do is scroll down, point and click!
When you've finally cranked out your labor of love and it's time to apply a beautiful finish worthy of your blood, sweat, & tears...now's NOT the time to rush in where angels fear to tred!...Just sit back, take your time, and check out the great tips and techniques below.
After the dust has settled and the finish is dry, then comes the time to consider which latches, catches, hinges, hasps, and other bangles and bobbles to adorn your creation with. Herein are some sources for just such adornments...
Groups of misers and miserettes around the world who have banded
together for the noble purpose of furthering their skills and understanding
of the craft... (plus they have secret handshakes and passwords, AND they
get to wear large strange looking hats at the meetings..... cool!!)
This is a list of a few sites whose intended purpose is to sell a
product or service, but have humbly set aside time and space for freebie's,
instruction, useful links, and other cool stuff.
The below sites will help broaden your trek beyond "woodworking"
into the world of general construction and home improvement without just dropping you into another
vast abyss of information.
This is a collection of woodworking sites and pointers we've bumped
into hailing from countries other than AWM Workshop's native U.S.A. These
are definitely worth a visit to see what's being cranked out on other parts
of the globe.
The heading for this section doesn't do the following sites justice
because they're all top notch and filled with highly useful info. They
just don't happen to fall under any of the other "woodworking" categories.
But don't let that fool you misers and miserettes... see for yourself...
