1. Allagash Wilderness Waterway

Due to the rugged and mountainous terrain in the north and extensive urban development in much of the southern part of the region, the New England states do not offer many opportunities for extended canoe trips.  The Allagash is a true wilderness experience that can be enjoyed by those with the appropriate skills.  It can also be experienced with the services of professional guides.
