Compound Description
|
|
Emery
Compound
|
Contains emery grit -- very fast cutting action. For coarse buffing, removing
scratches and burrs from iron and other hard metals. Use with sisal buff. Color of compound may vary from dark brown to dark gray. |
|
Stainless
Compound
|
For cutting ferrous metals (iron, steel, stainless). Has fast cutting action.
Use with spiral buff or ventilated flap buffs. Color of compound is light to medium gray. |
|
Tripoli
Compound
|
For general cutting of all nonferrous metals (aluminum, brass, etc.) Mild cutting
action. Use with spiral buff or ventilated flap buffs. |
|
Plastic
Compound
|
Ideal for taillight refinishing. Great for color action and removing scratches
from plastic which require a special compound. Use with care to avoid heat buildup. Use with loose section, canton flannel, and string buffs. |
|
Jewelers Rouge
Compound
|
Fine abrasive for gold or silver. Use canton buff. |
|
White Rouge
Compound
|
Primarily a coloring compound to produce a brilliant, mirror-like finish. For
all metals. This is the final step before plating. Use
loose section or canton flannel buff. |
| Ventilated Flap Buffs
~ The flap design of these buffs keeps your work piece cooler, reducing the risk of warping, and the flaps tend
to "slap" the part, resulting in cutting action that's twice as fast as spiral sewn wheels. Use with Tripoli or Stainless compound. |
|
| Sisal Buffs
~ Natural, woven fiber covered with cotton and spiral sewn. Used for steel, iron and stainless metals. Sisal is
fast cutting and aggressive. Use with Emery compound. |
|
| Spiral Sewn Buffs
~ Dependable, well balanced, long wearing wheel for coarse buffing and cutting on all materials. Made from selected
white cotton material with continuous spiral sewing 3/8" spacing. Use
with Tripoli or Stainless compound. |
|
| Canton Flannel Buffs
~ An extra soft wheel, recommended for all final coloring operations. This wheel will give you the most brilliant
finish of all buffs. Made of combed flannel to create an extra soft nap. Use
with Jeweler's Rouge, White Rouge, or Plastic Compound. |
|
| Loose Section Buffs
~ An extremely flexible wheel for color buffing. Gives very slight cutting action and is great for hard to reach
surfaces. Made of fine weave cotton discs joined by one circle of sewing around the arbor hole. Use with White Rouge or Plastic Compound. |
